hey Scotty what’s going with the 2018 and up Toyota Camry I reviewed them and seen people are mad furious and disappointed with the 8speed transmission that they had to replace at low mileage. I just would wanna know because I wanna get one but with the v6 engine and does it affect the v6 models please and thank you.

The Toyota 8speed FWD transmission with the V6 did have some issues from it's origin in 2017-2020. Toyota did fix some issues in 2021 and 2022 with an update but the verdict on that is unknown.

When you say update, can you clarify for the OP if that’s software update or hardware update or both?

Both

Toyota drivers tend to be very nitpicky and will whine about anything. These transmissions are a little weird but they are still good cars. I’m in a few Toyota Camry forums and there are a few people with 150k+ miles on their 2018 Camrys already… Only one of them said they had to replace the transmission at 170k miles but it is kind of his fault for not changing the transmission fluid and his commutes are always on city roads constant stop and go but even at 250k miles, his engine is still running excellent. Everyone else, including one with 215k miles still has the original engine and transmission. People buy Toyotas for their reliability and in that case, they expect perfection but the perfect car doesn’t exist ! I have a 2019 Camry SE with 68k miles and it still runs great. I got the transmission software update and it shifts normal now. I didn’t really care about the hesitation before the update. People just like to whine

Some people say it's been fully fixed by now, which I disagree. They did iron out most of the issues, but I am still hearing issues of lackluster throttle response at a stop and a few where the transmissions can be kinda lazy to shift, but the issues with jerking are gone. I think you should be fine since those issues are a small amount now. You should be fine buying a new V6 camry. If ur still not confident, go buy a Honda Accord 2.0T or go for the Mazda 6 2.5T since that has the proven 6-speed auto tranny.
