  • I saw post on Facebook about someone who jumpstarted their car and because it was a newer car(unknown year or make) it damage sensors in the electrical system and costed $700 in repairs. Is it true that newer cars can not be jumpstarted or risk causing damage?

Yes, you don't want to jump-start modern cars using jumper cables or you risk that kind of damage. Use a jump-start battery pack instead.

It shouldn’t matter. 12v is 12v

If a jump start is literally just using a different battery (that just happens to not be inside your own car), why would it matter? Using a different battery is exactly what happens when you buy a new battery and that seems to be alright.

New cars have to many things going on especially with electrical and computer. New cars are like walking computers. Jump starting them can cost a fortune. If you your battery getting old get it inspected. If your battery is running low get Jumpstart battery pack but don't get the cheap Chinese one they are same as jump starting the car
