DISCLAIMER: Thank you for any and all input you have, the ECU is a first time experience for me! As well as the much needed cross-reference info!!
Ok so, I have a 1993 Honda Del-Sol,S Model. It has the 1.5L SOHC (non-VTEC) in the 5 speed manual transmission.
Most of my posts are relevant to this "baby" of mine that I have been trying to get completely up and running and man have I had a journey! I am now inquiring as much as I can, or trying to eliminate any possibility of the ECU being shot, or failing in some way??
I'm very unfamiliar with my car's ECU. I believe it could be damaged in some way; being as the fact that it appears to have alot of corrosion not just on the mount/bracket itself, but also the ECU in it's entirety. Incase you are unfamiliar of the exact location, on this model-the ECU is located under the floorboard of the passenger side (flush to the door). Before I bought the car I was informed of it sitting for quite some time, maybe around 9 months or so?
**IF I DON'T POST THE PICTURES OF SAID ECU IN INITIAL POST, PLEASE SEE COMMENTS BELOW AS I WILL IMMEDIATELY GET THEM AFTER THIS IS PUBLISHED.**
Is it possible that a bad ECU is completely incapable in starting a vehicle with a complete ignition tune up and timing? Do these pictures give any red flags for any reason? Is there ANY bypass method I can take to "buy" an 8 mile drive to the shop? ...
If indeed it does need replaced (or whatever reason recommended replacement) is it just a simple pull, plug, and job done- or is there much more to it?
Could it just be impossible to tell anything by picture alone? ...
Finally,
Any and all info on ECU swaps or cross-references to ANY other make/model/year vehicles that are acceptable would be very appreciated!
I'm trying so hard to fix my car, and with so low of funds left I really hope it's not the ECU, because I cannot find one anywhere less than like $200. I'm in over my head guys. Thank you for your time in reading as well as whatever feedback you can leave me!
OH YEAH: I'd love to find some help around Dayton, OH. 🧐

Yeah. That would brick one. Especially if the corrosion has crept into the pinout.

What do you mean tune up? How did you tune without running the engine? Or did you mean just swap out parts? A bad ECU will for sure be a reason you can't start the car much less turn it over.
Don't see no pictures so---As for the ECU. If it is the same year, make and model, a different ECU from another car should just be plug and play. (May have to play around with anti-theft if ya got one, or reprogram the key) The years can some times have various generations so as long as it's within the same generational bracket then you could get away with it, for my e30 im currently running a 1989 ECU on my 1987 but I had to make some adjustments to my timing to compensate for the newer ECU. Whereas if I found the same chip set I probably would not have had to.
