- 2004 infiniti g35 bad sedan, 250k miles, bought from private party. Had a bad power steering fluid leak that turned out (so we thought) to be a result of a broken clip on the power steering pressure control switch. We just replaced it and the fluid isn't leaking near as badly, but it's still leaking somewhat and bad enough to leak and make the car smoke uncontrollably. Seems to only smoke badly though when we leave the car running idle or get stuck at a light or in traffic. I'm out of money and out of ideas! Before it was leaking heavily into the alternator and onto the belts but I've cleaned the undercarriage and motor to the best of my ability to remove old built up fluid that may burn off and now I can't see where it's leaking but it's smoking from the back left side of the motor by the firewall. Infiniti parts are crazy expensive, could this possibly be a simple hose or broken seal?

You can use UV dye as you would to find an engine oil leak.

If you’re out of money in being able to fix anything else regarding that power steering issue, I’d honestly consider cutting your losses and selling it for whatever you’re able.
With all that mileage and considering that it’s from 2004, the power steering may not be the only maintenance item that the previous owner (or owners) neglected. Other items could break over time, possibly sooner than later.
