Car Alignment

Hello,

I have a 2016 Lexus RX 350 with 36k miles.

After a 4-wheel alignment, the SUV feels smoother (less vibration) during idling. Does aligning the wheels actually make the vehicle vibrate less?

Thank you!

An alignment will help the vehicle drive smoother with less vibration. However, you are saying it idles smoother, which would not be in any way related to an alignment.

If you aren't having any problems, I guess just be happy and go with it. But an alignment will never fix an engine vibration at idle.

Understood, I also did tire rotation. Maybe the rotation helped with the vibration at idling?

No that wouldn't be it. Anything involving your tires wouldn't affect an engine vibration at idle.

the wheels don't move when you're idling. How could that possibly make the car vibrate?? {black}:idontknow:

Exactly.

Ok, maybe placebo effect...

well in that case, you need to hang an anti-vibration moon crystal from your mirror. They emit heartzian waves that cancel out negative road energy. I have some for sale right here for only 29.99!

Or just turn off that stick shaker feature 😆

Maybe alignment took strain from the drive line.  Didn't say what gear transmission was in.  Was it idle in drive like at a stop light?  Or sitting in Park inside a garage.  Four wheel alignment will stop vibration in drive but should make no difference in park with drive line disconnected.

Yes, it was idle in drive at a stop light (1st gear).
