Hi! So last week my cars' battery died and needed to be jump-started twice last week which led me to get the battery replaced by my mechanic. Since then my car has been working fine, but has me a little nervous since this is my first car and first time dealing with a car issue. Would it be smart to invest in a battery jump starter to keep in trunk?
Also I noticed that since the battery was replaced, my car security makes a repeated ring sound until I close the driver side door. Why could they be and what could I do to fix that?
- Lastly, my screens in the car also randomly get some when they didn't before. Why is that? Are both of these things because the previous bad battery slightly ruined my cars electric system?
Thanks in advance!
Year, make & model please.
It's a 2016 Honda Accord EX-L
yes a set of booster cables is an excellent investment. You will be very happy you got them. (Make sure they made with at least 2AWG flexible copper wire)
cars chime when you open the door with the engine running, lights on, or keys in ignition. This should all be described in your owners manual (which you should read cover to cover).
I don't understand the screens part.
Okay I have to check the manual. I can deal with the dimming as it's not that problematic. I was just a little alarmed since it started when my battery was replaced.
But you'd think it's better to get some booster cables as opposed to the battery jumper? Cause if, let's say, I go camping, and there is no one there to help jump start the car, the jumper cables wouldn't be of much help. Just a hypothetical of course. Thanks for your help!
Cables are 1st priority. They always work.
Then you can think about battery boosters, but I think quality on those battery things is very hit or miss. And when it runs out of power they're useless.
If you mean your screen is dim, play with the brightness settings. Honda, for some reason sets it’s screens to min brightness from the factory. My sister’s Jazz/Fit was exactly the same.
As @mountainmanjoe said, most cars chime when the driver’s door is open. Maybe the battery change reset all your vehicle’s settings, back to factory settings.
If you meant to say your screen randomly gets ‘stuck’, and if it’s indeed broken, save yourself the hassle of fixing it & just get a new android head unit.
