Hey Scotty
I'm looking at buying a used vehicle that is located out of the state I live in from a Used car Dealership. I can't let my mechanic look at it to check everything over because of location. Is there a National Service or company that I can use that can do this sort of thing and is Reputable to make sure the car is OK?
Hey halston, hello from california. I don't know of any national service company that does that sort of thing unfortunately. Scotty has a good amount of vids explaining what sort of things to check out from a DIY perspective when looking at a used car. The easiest thing you could do from your desk is looking up the VIN to see the vehicle history. See what sort of states the car has been registered in and what years. Unfortunately there is a very vast grey market of used cars bought at car auctions after being damaged in a flood. These cars can carry a very suspiciously low detailed vehicle history with vast intervals within odometer readings, among other things. The wild electrical problems that these cars have down the road are just not worth it. This is one of the reasons why i prefer to buy used cars directly from their owners. You can grill them if need be with certain vehicle history questions and you don't get the jaded and seasoned run-around from a used car salesmen.
Best of luck. If you go to a lot and see a car you like don't jump on it so quickly. Do the research and see if it is indeed a reliable model year. These used car lots count on people not doing their homework and coming in with less than perfect credit and economic circumstances.
