I have a 1989 Honda Prelude Si 4WS, 144k miles, with a 5-speed manual transmission. The car struggles to start in colder weather. I'll prime the fuel pump and try and start it and it'll puff and die. I repeat this process 5-6 more times before the car will start but rough. It'll act like it's missing a cylinder misfiring and idling below 200RPM and I have to floor it to keep it from stalling out. Once I can get the RPMs up it'll idle normal and smooth but if I touch the gas pedal it'll act like it's about stall out. After about 30 seconds of letting it warm up, it'll drive just fine like nothing ever happened. It will do not any of this in warmer weather and start normally. The car has thrown a code for an issue with the CYP sensor but it seems to be working properly in accordance with the repair manual I have for the car. I did try and rebuild the sensor as well as replacing all the seals with no luck. I have also tried replacing spark plugs, wires, distributor, fuel filter, air filter, and cleaning the Fast Idle Valve. Compression is 165psi +/-3psi on all cylinders and fuel pressure is within spec in the cold. I am stumped and do not know what else it could be. Any advice on what else I should try would be appreciated.
many things can do that but if the trips I call it can Austin be a stretched or worn-out timing chain or timing belt have that tested first
