2010 Toyota Yaris 105k automatic transmission. Hi all, today the car started but then died shortly after. The car won't start now. Fuel is 2 bars from being empty so I don't know if it's because of the fuel. I did drive during the CA rainstorm and ran over large pools of water. There was a funny sound while driving but then went away. It started up just fine yesterday. Maintenance light has been on for about a week or so, blinking then turns off. Any ideas?
So we called a mechanic and they said to put more gas in the car. Lo and behold, it worked! So I guess it doesn't have to do anything with the alternator? Does this mean that the fuel and air filter are bad
Frequently that means the fuel pump is weak, or if there's a pre-pump that has failed, but you'd need to do some diagnostics to determine that. If you don't know how old the filters are they should be changed as a matter of routine maintenance.
I hope your fuel and air filters are not 13 years old.
I hope not, but an AAA technician did say it was the alternator. Hopefully the extended warranty will cover it!
