Whats good everyone hope all is well. Question are catalytic converter deletes worth it on a Jeep? No this isn't my idea to my Grand Cherokee lolz but my friends dad he owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with a lil over 150K miles he noticed power loss and poor fuel economy and it got code P0420 he cut his cats out to see they were clogged. What happening if he instead of replacing have a pipe put in its place so a cat delete cause here in North Carolina emissions doesn't exist. He's wondering if it's worth deleting them and would there be any drawbacks? He's aware it's illegal

I'm sure this has been answered dozens of times here already, so please search first.
No it's not worth it.
- You will not notice any gain in performance (in fact, it could be reduced)
- Emissions equipment is federally regulated, no matter your state's emissions rules, so you could be fined over a thousand dollars.
- Your vehicle will get louder and stinkier.
This is what LA looked like before the "Clean Air Act" which brought catalytic converters. Is that what you want?
No sirrrrrrr, clean air is best
Even though there's not tailpipe testing in NC, if it's a legitimate shop that does the state inspection, they do have to check that all emissions components are present and if any are missing then it fails, even in NC.
Oh okay
Technically, the car will run better with a straight pipe than a clogged cat.
Legally, it is wrong to delete the cat.
Morally, it may also be wrong, with respect to cleaner air.
