Scotty, you've been a lifesaver for me! I'm an elementary music teacher and you know on our salaries, it's not affordable to go to a mechanic to get work done on our cars, so thank you for everything!
Chrysler: I have a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Base w/6speed standard transmission (~119k mi; I bought it about 8 years ago and it had ~50k mi) and I take very good care of it. I absolutely adore the car and have done a lot of regular and age-based maintenance (oil changes, spark plugs, fuel pump and filter, head gaskets, etc.) and the car runs like a champ. I know you are wary of Chrysler vehicles, so do you have any experience with the Crossfire, and should I change the clutch and transmission fluid? Any tips or advice?
Cadillac: I have an automatic 2012 AWD 3.6 CTS Coupe with ~80k miles. I also adore the car and do the same kind of maintenance as above. To my knowledge, the transmission fluid has never been changed, and I would like to do a fluid change per your vids. The clutch does not slip, so would you recommend adding the quart of Lucas into the new fluid anyway? Any other experiences with the vehicle or tips?
Trunk: You should do a vid on a survivor pack of things to keep in your truck!
p.s. I would love to have you look at the cars one day!
p.s.s. Do you have any life-lessons on leadership? Thanks for everything!
Hi @cppeabody, welcome to the forum! I'd recommend that you break up your question so you have one thread for each of them. This will make it easier for others and Scotty to read and make suggestions to. Thanks!
The Crossfire is a Mercedes with a Chrysler name on it. With a manual trans car, you change the transmission gear oil, as per your owners manual recommendations. Same with the brake fluid and clutch fluid. Your Cad probably has an automatic trans and the fluid and filter need to be changed, again, as per your owner's manual maintenance section.
You can find the free owner's manuals online in pdf format by using any search engine, putting the vehicle year and model in and ending with "owner's manual."
