  1. Hi ScottyI  I have a 95 GMC Sierra 1500, 5.7. After getting a basic tune up done at a shop, it threw a code 32/egr code. It hasnt done this since before the egr valve was replaced 3 years ago. I unplugged the battery a few times to reset the computer, but everytime i drive it, the engine light/code 32 pops up in inder 10 miles. If i park it for a bit and start it again, the engine light is off, but comes on again if its driven for 10 plus miles. Not sure why this happened immediately after getting the tune up done. Im really broke right now so hoping i dont have to replace the egr valve again especially so soon. Thanks for any help!.

Notice that the included screen shot says wiring close to the bottom. And are you getting codes by blinking lights? Take off the breather and inspect the wiring close for broken or loose connectors on the intake and general area around there.

This could be a few things including abrasion/holes in the vacuum line or electrical connections. My hunch, however, based on the information you've provided is that the spark plugs were very old when replaced which allowed carbon to build up in the combustion chamber. When the tune up was done that carbon was clean out (new spark plugs can sometimes have a moderate effect on large carbon deposits). When the carbon was cleaned out it ended up in the emissions system clogging the EGR valve. This is a HUNCH based on limited information. The proper procedure would be to look for wear/problems with the electrical/vacuum system first and then proceed to looking into excess carbon deposits in the emissions system. inspecting the system and cleaning up any carbon deposits you do find is virtually free.
