Compressor/condesser

Hii and Happy New Year

I just got a Volkswagen Tiguan, 2011 model for my mum. Air conditioning wasn't working, so we bought a new compressor. After everything, we discovered that the liquid pipe gets very hot and the coolness of the car from the vent starts to drop.

I've been told the compressor will burn in no time. What do we do about the heating liquid pipe?

By the way, I'm in Nigeria.

Thanks for all your help carwise.

Replacing the compressor should not be the first step in diagnosing an air conditioning problem unless it has an obvious problem like seizing up, making bad noises, or not pumping. If the compressor had seized up the rest of the AC system would need to be replaced as well due to contamination.

How hot is the liquid line getting? Normally it should not be much more than about 30 degrees F. above ambient temperature. If your liquid line is getting too hot that is usually because your condenser is not shedding enough heat. This may be due to an internal obstruction or insufficient air flow or an undercharge condition. Is the condenser free of debris? Fins open? Does the condenser fan work if so equipped? Another possibility would be a bad expansion valve.

What are the system pressures, both high and low side measured with a manifold gauge set?
