Hey Scotty theres a Consumer Reports Says Mazda Is More Reliable Than Toyota, Lexus. Here's the link
I don't put faith in those magazines personally. They are all up for sale for the right price.
Certain report says Hyundai is more reliable than Lexus. Would you believe that?
Do not listen to these "REPORTS". A user posted a link which said that the depreciation of used Mercedes SUV and Lexus SUV is the same. Some people fall for that, although a bit later, they all regret and it is too late for that.
@yaser
Maybe Mercedes g class in some markets holds value as well as Lexus suv. But yes most of MB suvs, they depreciate as fast as cell phones.
Hahaha another hilarious survey from CR.
Always take advice from such places with a pinch of salt. Listen to real advice from guys like Scotty who work on vehicles daily & have 50+ yrs of experience with various car brands.
Those reports are based on what their readers tell them so you have to take them with a huge grain of salt. Many years ago I recall the magazine top-rating the Fiat 128 to the chagrin of their loyal subscribers who of course quickly found that the cars fell apart and that the dealers, when they even stuck around, provided lousy service. (Some things never change.) I don't think I've ever owned a vehicle that Consumer Reports particularly approved of but have done OK nonetheless.
That's not to say there's anything wrong with Mazda. It can be a good choice depending on what you want.
These are Mazda models that are no more than 7 or 8 years old. They are pretty reliable in that time period. These are usally not info from 13+ year old cars. If you buy a 2 year old Mazda and sell it ater 6 or 7 years it could be the most reliable car you ever owned
A very big component of "quality control" is what's called in the industry "configuration management", i.e. reduce the permutations of what you're selling and in an anal-retentive way chase down and fix problems in those few configurations that leave your factory doors. Mazda basically sells one platform, one engine, and one transmission in US (they just stretch and shrink that platform and that same 4 cylinder Skyactiv engine with the same 6 speed auto; stick is a miniscule proportion of overall sales and that's already bullet-proof, just go to any of your local Miata races: https://www.mx-5cup.com ). Furthermore they make all these in-house (i.e. they don't shop around and try one product after another from, say, a transmission supplier hoping it'll work out better than the last product: Honda, I'm looking at you).
It wouldn't surprise me that their engineers (all speaking the same language and located a short drive from each other in Hiroshima, Japan, i.e. no communication issues: Boeing, I'm looking at you after 787 and 737 fiascos) chase down and shake down all the "bugs" in their products and that's what's reduced their problem reports over what, say, a bigger manufacturer with several product lines and operations spread across several continents (Mercedes is undergoing a huge effort to pare down their number of platforms) has to go through.
How much did Mazda pay Consumer Reports to say that?
Consumer reports write whatever theyre paid to do.
Mazda has improved in last 5 years ever since Toyota look them under their wing, and mazda left ford
best econ cars out there for long life for the dollar is still toyota/honda
