I have a 2012 dodge caliber sxt could you show me what the control circuit looks like please that would be a big help if you could as well as its location.?

Also if I was to splice the fan that does not work right into the one that does??

Thank you I appreciate your help immensely

Did you get a fan circuit 1 code?

Those fans should come on together and you have 1 fan that isn't working. That's the fan on the #1 circuit

Why not disconnect the wiring connector from that fan, grab a test light and see if you have Power and Ground on the "harness side" of that connector when the other fan is running?

If you do, maybe grab some jumper wires and put power and ground from the battery terminals to that fan motor's terminals and see if the fan spins.

I'm almost positive by 2012 Chrysler stopped using a 3 relay fan control. On yours I don't even see a place in the fan housing to mount a resistor for when they 1st went to a single relay.

That would make the cooling fan wiring circuit look like this Chrysler setup:

It's controlling the cooling fans from input from the ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) sensor.

The ones with the resistor in the fan housing was for the AC. It kicked on the fans when the ECT sensor wasn't reading an "overheat" problem but the resistor was being exposed to high temps because the AC condenser was getting hot.

I think yours just kicks the fans on when the PCM sees the AC is on

Check fuses and relays, as well as the fan itself.

Hacking up the electrical circuits in modern vehicles is risky. If you connect the two fans together it is likely you will overload the working fan's circuit and wind up with no fans. (You might be able to get away with use the working fan's power feed to trigger a relay that will operate the other one.)

so, I have checked the # 1 fan and it is working when i run power and ground from the battery.

so, I'm thinking that its either a friad wire or may be the ect sensor. can you show me where that sensor would be on my 2012 dodge caliber sxt?

thank you

Afraid I have no idea where the temperature sensor is on that car. Typically that would be located in the radiator, thermostat housing, or somewhere on the cylinder head.

is there a way that i can by pass it so that i comes on when it should??? it seems that it does not come on at all thats fan number one on the driver side

the other fan comes on when the AC is on and when the AC is not on im guessing its supposed to do that

As I said you could try having the fan circuit that works trigger a relay that will turn on the 2nd fan. I would not connect the 2 fans together without using a relay for fear of overloading the circuit and causing further damage to the electrical system.

ok how would i do that

By using a relay with "normally open" contacts and wiring its coil in parallel with the existing fan's power feed. That will energize the relay when the working fan turns on. Run a fused circuit from your battery through the relay contacts to the 2nd fan. Those fans pull a lot of current so you'd want to use wiring, a relay, and fuse rated to carry 25 or 30 amps.

Yeah I have replaced and cleaned one relay because it was corroded and I am replacing a second one that is loose. Then go from there.

Can you possibly get me a picture of the control curcit I want to know where it is and looks like if I need to replace it.

Again thank you

I have no idea where to get a wiring diagram of that control circuit. Moderator @jack62 is good at tracking that kind of thing down, possibly he can chime in here.

Should I ask him or will he just chime in

Already flagged to his attention. Up to him to respond.
