Hi Scotty, love your channel. I hope you are enjoying Rhode Island. Check out the Portuguese-American fishing fleet if they are still in business. May I ask you a question, please? The wife noticed in her 2013 Ford Edge Ltd v6, about 90k miles, that the ac wasn't working. I had purchased a Blue Driver on your recommendation. It gave two codes: B1252, temperature internal sensor Circuit Short To Battery:Circuit Short to Ground, and P0480, fan control circuit. I brought it to a local shop and they told me I needed a new fan assembly for parts and labor amounting to $1050. I told them I had sticker shock and needed another quote. I have since then seen a video about replacing a related relay, which I did and the system is working without codes, so I am guardedly happy. I am only guardedly happy because there are two fans and the only fan I see working is the one on the passenger side. Should both sides be working? I saw two videos on replacing this assembly. Guys did it in less than a half an hour and the Motorcraft part costs less than $300 at O'Reillys. I think I can do it myself. Is there any trick or caution about doing this job oneself? Do I need to do it. Maybe when it gets hot the second fan turns on? Or maybe it is only a matter of time until the relay fails again. Anyway the relay was only $25. It's been worth a try. Also, when done I rescanned after clearing codes and got a weird one, U0424. I was idling it for a while in a garage with the door opened but no crosswind. Carbon Monoxide? Lastly, best gloves to work in warm area, good grip, no scraped knuckles?
both fans don't necessarily operate at the same time. One fan is for normal cooling of the radiator. The other fan is controlled by the A/C and also will come on if the coolant temperature rises. If they both do not come on when you turn on the A/C there could be a problem.
The U0424 is Invalid Data Received From HVAC Control Module.
Thank you, I will monitor the situation.
