Hi scotty,
I have a vehicle 2006 corolla 1.3 xli. I love this vehicle and I am facing many troubles with it. I have taken my vehicle to many mechanics and I was only ripped by them.
a) after I start my car and drive suddenly, my car doesnt shift into 3rd and 4th suddenly. I have to drive for almost 5 to 8 minutes for it to shift into 3rd and 4th. After idling or driving 5 to 8 minutes its smoothly shifting. I tried replacing the transmission gasket, fluid and filter and still the same issue is occuring. Why is this happening and is there a simple solution for this.
b) when a transmission shifting at sudden acceleration, I hear a loud bang noise and vehicle jerks.
c) my mehanic mentioned its better to let the car be like this and these issues cannot be solved by repairing the transmission. And replacing the transmission is the only solution he mentioned.
d) when I turn on my Airconditioning on, I feel there is not too much power left in my vehicle.
replacing the transmission is the only solution
He is right. It's the only solution to a worn out transmission.
The mileage is 187000 kms
If the transmission was not maintained over that mileage (I think about 120,000 in real miles?) with at least a couple of fluid and filter changes that would tend to kill it. Was fluid low before you changed it? What did the old fluid look like? Burnt? Gritty?
You could try an additive like Lucas "no-slip". It might not work, and it would only be a temporary bandaid even if it did. However it seems like you are at the "nothing to lose" stage with that transmission.
It sounds like your transmission is shot and so are the bearings in your AC compressor. It sounds like the vehicle was treated as an econobox and wasn't very well maintained before you got it. It is 16 years old.

I always change the gear oil every 50000kms. But i dont drive that much. I use it for my daily commute to work.
4times i have changed the gear oil, filter and gasket and i dont know why is this issue happening.
Will try getting the gear changed.
