I have a 2017 F150, 3.5l Ecoboost with 38,992 miles. I was going down Rte 24 in MA on Memorial day when all of a sudden I got a low oil pressure warning, a battery warning, and the temperature gauge went from normal to max instantly. When I pulled off the highway and checked under the hood, a belt had broken and acted like a whip in the engine compartment. It yanked the coolant hose right off the engine, split a sensor wiring harness in two, and damaged the other belt. After having it towed, over the next several days the mechanic replaced the belts and the wiring harness, reconnected the coolant hose, etc. But they noticed the check engine light was still on. They said they traced the wiring harness they had replaced back to the ECM and found voltage on the ECM's ground. So they then replaced the ECM and had the new one programmed. When I went to leave the garage, I noticed the check engine light was on again (they claimed it wasn't after they replaced the ECM). The mechanic cleared the code and said if it came back it could be that the crankcase oil pressure sensor might have shorted as well (being connected to the same harness that had been torn apart). Sure enough, it came back on the next day. I brought the truck back and they replaced the sensor. A couple of days after, the check engine light was back on again. I brought the truck back again, they did a smoke test and said there was a small leak in the PCV valve and replaced it. A couple of days later, the check engine light is back on. The FordPass app shows the same error, "The engine control system has detected an improper connection/installation of the engine crankcase hoses and sealing items". I think this mechanic is at a loss for what is causing this. I don't want to bring it back to them again because I don't think they have any idea what is causing the problem or how to fix it. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Well I would assume that when the belt ripped things apart it probably messed with the wiring it probably needs a new section of the wiring harness i'd check that out first
Find a real mechanic.
