Danger of random limp mode in new Acura

Hi Scotty,

I have a 2020 Acura RDX with 2.0 turbo GDI engine and 10 speed automatic.

I hear several people complaining about the car randomly switching to ‘limp mode’ on highways under hard throttle, which reduces the speed to something like 20mph, especially during passing maneuvers. Sounds extremely dangerous. In most cases the car seems to be coming back to normal after turning off the ignition and turning back on. I have seen some Honda Accord forums mentioning similar problem in models with same engine.

I am very worried about this happening on highways. Please advise.

Well I'd be worried too if I read stuff like that I haven't seen it myself yet but get yourself a camera or use your phone camera and drive it when there's hardly anybody around on an unused road and if it does happen film it then take it immediately to the dealer and say fix this or give me my money back under the lemon law

Can't really do anything at that time as the ECU just goes into almost shock mode, it goes into limp mode because it detected a serious issue.

Check if you have the latest PCM software (you should already since it's new)
