Hey Scotty/All,
Last year I bought a brand new 2023 toyota rav4 le gas model. A few days ago, I noticed that the rust plugs that the dealer was supposed to install under the car body were not installed, still sitting in their packaging. After search many forums online, seems this is a very common issue. I can go ahead and install these plugs myself, but I'm worried about any rust damage that may have already occurred internally that I can't see due to theses plugs not being installed. I live in Dallas, Texas, so it's fairly humid here. Is there anything I can do to mitigate this damage?
For more context with pictures, here's another forum's post about this issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/rav4prime/comments/mgnyrl/antirust_hole_plugs/
Your one year old Rav4 will be absolutely fine. In fact some people even remove the plugs to promote better drainage and air exchange.
Apologies I neglected to include the following:
Vehicle: 2023 toyota rav4 gas le awd
Number of miles: 14, 608
