I just installed a Denso oil filter in my 1996 Corolla 1.6L. So they seem to be good quality from my research but they still use a rubber anti-drain back valve. Or at least on the one I received.

My question is if this filter will last 1 year/ 5000 mile oil change interval. or if I should change it at 3000 miles..? A lot of people say that a silicone drain back valve is necessary, but others say the rubber one is fine. So I wonder what's the verdict on Denso filters. The drain back valve is thick but it is natural rubber for sure.

Denso is a reputable company and I wouldn't hesitate to use any of their products! In fact, I do use some of their products from time to time and I've never had a problem with any of them.

That oil filter should be just fine for 5,000 miles.
