2006 Toyota FJ Cruiser can only reverse, no forward gears with DTC codes

Scotty! Congrats on your new forum!

I have a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, 5-speed automatic. It has 187K miles. About a year ago, it's been showing a CEL and can't pass smog. Using a mid-level scanner, the DTC codes I've gotten are;

P2757 - Torque converter clutch (TCC) pressure control solenoid - performance problem or solenoid stuck off

P0771 - Shift solenoid (SS)E -performance problem or solenoid stuck off

P2714 - Pressure Control Solenoid "D" -performance problem or solenoid stuck off

I checked the tranny oil. It was not a clear red but dirty. I replaced my tranny oil. Two days after the oil change, my FJ only has drive in reverse and no forward drive in any gear. When shifting into Drive, I hear a "chunk" sound from the tranny.

Another scan resulted in the same DTC codes. Now, instead of replacing the solenoids that were giving the DTS codes, should I just replace the whole valve body with new or remanufactured solenoids? Replacing the valve body would cost less than replacing the three solenoids.

The automatic tranny mated to the 4-liter six is an Aisin A750E.

Thank you in advance,

Dan

When you changed your tranny fluid did you flush, or drain and pour?

@Satter: drain and pour. I have heard and have been encouraged to do a flush from the cooler line. But at this point, I am hesitant to do so. If something is clogging the valve body, wouldn't a valve body swap rule out the blockage and clear the DTC codes?

I am interested in your input and why.

Thank you in advance,

Dan

Oct. 8 UPDATE:

Today, I drained the transmission pan. Removed it and the filter. Checked filter seal and the filter's o-ring was intact.

While reviewing a YouTube video about a A750E valve body, the YouTuber swapped S1 and S2, because S2 is the lesser used solenoid but were identical. installed filter and Tranny oil pan. Put 8 quarts of WS back into the tranny.

The FJ still does not have forward drive in any gear. Still only has reverse. However, after a few attempts in changing the shifter between park, reverse, neutral, drive, my FJ did creep forward 3 times out of 10 tries. Even revved the engine before shifting into drive (to blow out any clogged passages in the valve body).

Running a code scanner now only exhibits one DTC: P2714. SLT solenoid performance or stuck off. No other DTC codes, even after several restarts and several ECU resets.

Ordered a new SLT online. It'll be here on Wednesday. Will update after the install of the SLT solenoid.

Wish me luck!

Nope. The new SLT solenoid and new fluid did not work. Still shifts only in reverse, no forward gears. Still got the P2714 DTC code. Pulled the trigger on bringing my FJ to a Toyota mechanic. UGHHH... #bitethebullet

Hi there. I know this is years ago, but did you get this fixed? I have the exact same problem on my FJ Cruiser. No forward gears, only reverse gear, and same fault code. Please help
