Not really. They still don't.

Question, what about the Jeep Cherokee back then? Was that part of Chrysler back then or were they just horrible. Both Scotty and Car Wizard say the 90s ones are very reliable not sure about 80s though.

Jeep didn't join Chrysler until 1987. The Cherokee's were good, but not Chrysler products until then.

Ok so a 1987-1989 Jeep Cherokee could qualify in his "decent" category

The Caravan was popular, a market pioneer. But I’m not sure if it was decent.

The Caravan is not really decent because Chrysler merged with Dodge a long time ago. Those engines are Chrysler engines.

They came with Mitsubishi engines as well.

Any carryover product from the AMC acquisition from 1987-1989?

Perhaps!

Aside from the Jeep Cherokee Chrysler sold a limited run of 1988 Eagle wagons that were actually built through December of 1987. AMC badges were removed and it was simply branded as the "Eagle wagon". (Probably to use up parts that were on hand.) This was the last of the traditional AMC cars based on the old Hornet platform.

Due to the agreement with Renault, Chrysler also sold the Eagle Premier from 1988-1992. These were also badge-engineered as the Dodge Monaco. Additionally a small number of AMC/Renault Alliances (total junk) were sold by Chrysler in 1987.

The Grand Cherokee ZJ was primarily an AMC design that was finished and built by Chrysler but it was not sold until the 1993 model year.

People bought enough of them then, but they were throwaway cars, drive it 100K or so and junk it.
