Got the following reply on Youtube to one of my comments under one of most recent Scotty´s videos:

"Congratulation, Dm to claim for your👆👆 winning prize we are having a giveaway session 🎁🎁."

The originator was some user named
"message@+ ① ⑤⓪③ ⑧②② ②①④⑤" utilizing Scotty´s avatar pic.

Never won anything anywhere on the Internet. Is it some type of Inet scam, or did I actually won smth this time?

Thanks, and regards

Scotty, are you ever going to do your Mechanic Monday video segments again. Really enjoyed those.

It got to be too much of a logistic nightmare

Scotty does not use Telegram to contact his Youtube viewers. I've seen those Telegram contact requests in the comments of his videos, they are obvious scams. You should have no further contact with the scammer unless you want to just have some fun and play around with by giving phony information.

Solution - stop using social media.

Tell me about it 🤣🤣

This is not legit at all-it's spam.

how can we tell if it’s a scam or you

It's pretty simple really. If you don't see and hear Scotty's own voice and lips moving in a video telling you something, then he didn't say it.

🙄

If I upload a profile picture of Elvis, that doesn't make me Elvis.

It doesn’t?!

Not legit

I don’t remember the last time Scotty did a giveaway, and he has never been on telegram.

Exactly!

The fake YouTube channel is also an obvious sign

5

Scotty hasn't done one of these since he lived in Houston around 2 years ago. Intermittently he will give a tool away on his regular videos, but it's rare.

Scotty tells you to place a clean, non-offensive comment in the YouTube comments and a computer will pick the winner. There is no registering anywhere else. I don't know how he contacts the winners, but this is the gist of how it works when he gives things away.

5

That’s not Scotty!  Watch out for scammers on social media, especially on Telegram.

You can actually have a lot of fun scamming the scammers. To see a guy who takes it to an extreme level check out the "Scammer Payback" youtube channel.

It's a scam, ignore it. Scotty would announce something like this ahead of time. In his Mechanic Monday series from several years ago he used to give away items featured in his videos. He hasn't done one of those in a good while.

4

It's hard to say, anyone could have set that up with Scotty's picture. Hopefully the man himself, @scottykilmer, will respond here and let us know if this is legitimate.

I may try asking the question on a live show. I don't see times for live shows listed currently though. Do you have the times?

Not sure, I never seemed to be around when he was doing them and don't recall when his live shows are scheduled.

After reports of Scotty’s death recently, it wouldn’t surprise me if that was not legitimate as well.

@robert8778
Live show times are in the FAQ

I've having some fun with one of those jokers right now. He just sent me a photo of the truck I won! 😆   He says I've been blessed! I'm going to give him contact information for an FBI office and maybe Richard Nixon's Social Security number for tax purposes.

What contest or drawing are you referring to?  To my knowledge, Scotty has not been giving anything away for a while.

what did you win?

An internet scam?

I think it was a scam

100% it was a scam. That's not Scotty.

Looks like some hacker/s just figured out how to start trouble on YouTube. South Main Auto is having the same problem.

I don't think there's much to "figure out". You just change your name & avatar to someone else .... post a comment saying "You won!"... and see how many suckers you catch.

Do you have a picture from Scotty saying that you won a car?

If you ever see a reply saying that you won something, click on that user's name and see if they uploaded anything. If you see nothing, then it's spam.

yup.. i saved it

message me on telegram👉@Scottykilmerprivate replied: "🎊🎊 congratulations you have been selected among my shortlisted luckiest winner's dm to claim your prize 🔝"

Post the photo here. I can guarantee you that this is 100% spam because Scotty would never give away free cars.

I just checked… comment and reply are still up. on Toyota New electric Car Video. I also would like to say that Scotty is a main reason that I became active on Youtube… Definitely was naive as to how things worked so I joined the app (it is in the App store). But it became clear quick this was not my lucky day. Anyways, just want to say Scotty is a reason that I stopped lurking and started commenting.

Not sure how I can post it… but if you can find my comment about 12 hours ago it is up as well as the reply (at least on my end)

Scotty your YouTube account has been hacked. Someone is scamming people from your comments. Replied directly from your account. I swear

Nothing has been hacked. Nobody is using Scotty's account.

It's a different account and they just used his profile picture. You or I could do the exact same thing. Don't believe everything you see on the internet.

Don’t fall for the scam.  Scotty is a very busy guy and it’s hard to contact him as it is, unless you are making an appointment to bring your car over.  The best way to contact him is via e-mail (see under FAQ).

1

Well it's not just Spam, it's probably a phishing attempt that I fell for.

Could very well be. I would not contact that Telegram address unless Scotty himself comes in here and says it's OK.

almost all the y-tubers have had scammers post similar posts in the comment section.

It's been brought up as early as May

Most Definitely Fraud.

Yesterday I received a reply to my comment on Scotty's regular YouTube channel stating I have won a giveaway, and to reply on telegram.  I downloaded the telegram app and attempted to message Scotty but haven't heard back.  I see there is a YouTube channel with no content at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAkR8FacpfO5Uv4R4RLVEvg

Is this legit?

Hi, I just want you to be aware that after I posted a comment about the Toyota Electric flop video I received a reply to from what I initially thought was yourself congratulating me and that I would win a prize (made sense tool give away tomorrow) I was instructed to go to a messaging app and contact you at ScottyKilmer Private. i did. Okay so far right…. Well a few hours later I received a message from (you) saying congratulations you won a brand new car. Yup… and it would be delivered I just needed to pay the Customs Duty and it would be on the way.

I reported it to Youtube and that Nigerian Prince whats his name...

I know it's spam right of the bat because Scotty Kilmer usually announce giveaways in his videos. I doubt it that you got a free new vehicle. Also, new bots always find a way to scam people no matter what.

Yup… keep in mind that this is basically my second or third day of commenting. Definitely naive… but obviously didn't take long to figure what was up..

I got a message like that too! I replied to it but got no response, I figured it was a scam though.

Mechanic Monday  Webpages says there is a New Video every Monday, 8:30 am CST, with weekly automotive tool giveaways. I tuned in and couldn't find a live broadcast for today or a fresh video to comment on -- So how does one get entered?

Hi Scotty, I’m having a conversation with someone that is claiming to be you on the social media site Telegram. I just want to make sure it’s actually you and not someone trying to trick me into giving my information out. Joe in AZ.

When you win a prize;  what are the rules to follow to collect the prize?

Scotty, are you ever going to do your Mechanic Monday video segments again. Really enjoyed those.
