Hello I have a 2012 toyota rav4 with the 2ar-fe engine with over 130k miles. My a/c would blow somewhat cold for about 5 mins but would then go hot after. It still blew at the normal speed, so I took it to my mechanic to fill up the refrigerant. Few weeks later the same problem occurred. I assumed it must've been a refrigerant leak most possibly from the compressor. Took it to a different mechanic and he replaced the blower motor and resistor. A/c blows colder than before now, but I'm confused as to why he would replace those parts and not the compressor when the issue was it not being cold rather than it blowing anything at all.
It sounds like neither one of them did the right job. The system should have been checked for leaks with dye or an electronic detector, or both. The problem may not be the compressor, further diagnosis is required before replacing parts.
