Hello Scotty,
I want to upgrade my 2011 Jetta's radio headunit, but in order to do that, I have to remove the center trim piece to access the screws keeping the radio in its place.
I don't have those tools at home, does Autozone or similar auto parts store have those tools for rent? If not, would using a regular old screwdriver do the job just as well?
Thanks.
I don’t know that answer, but why not just buy a trim set online and not have to worry again? This is what I bought several years ago and has served me well numerous times:

I don't really see any point in buying tools I'll only use once.
How do you know you will use it once, especially if you do DIY work on your vehicle?
Cause I only plan to change the radio headunit once. I'm not going to do anything else.
Anything that can be gently used as a lever will work.
OK great, thank you very much
Why not buy interior trim tools from Harbor Freight?

With a standard flat blade screwdriver, you run the risk of gouging or deforming the plastics at the seams. If plastic tools aren't strong enough, a putty knife might work better because it has a wider and thinner blade.
I doubt they would rent something so inexpensive
Use a screwdriver, but attach a piece of cloth to the tip, so you don’t scratch anything inadvertently.
As @daywalker said though, the easiest way is to buy the pack of plastic tools and not having to worry about scratches.
