Honda Accord has jumpy takeoff sometimes

My 01 honda accord lx-a vtec four cylinder rides like a dream but on initial takeoff it feels like it wants to jump into 2nd gear right away even at 15-20 mph and sometimes jumps a little if the rpm is too low or high (2000-3000) haven't had it long but it's in great conditon with only 73,000 miles when I bought it 3 months ago (78,000 current and just changed oil). Am I just not accustomed to driving honda yet or am I missing something? I try to be careful with my possessions and just trying to be sure I am not causing any unnecessary damage to the engine/transmisson. Thank you!

I have an 02 Accord with 250K. If you only have 78K on it that should last a long time. I think thats normal shift patterns but I'd have to see a video or something to know. Is this on a normal take off from a stop sign or red light?

Yes just a standard stop & go nothing fancy, I assumed it is normal. I was driving a g m c SUV before this Honda so I guess that's why I'm so weary because it is such a different Driving experience than a gmc or any other car I have ever driven.

Any codes?

I have a really hard time believing your 20 year old Honda has only 78,000 miles on it.  Where did you buy it?

Honestly it was at a local Chevy dealership and the story that I got from owner of the store was that this car was owned by an elderly couple that's seldomly used it until they could not drive anymore and so the owner of the Chevy dealership knew them personally an offered to buy it from them. I was told it was just a grocery getter and the elderly couple never traveled far. I got it for $7,900 out the door which considering the recent car market and the condition of the car and the extremely low mileage I thought personally it was a steal. The original window sticker from 2001 was still in the glove box.

If the ATF was never changed, now is a good time. But check it’s condition first -

Use the genuine Honda fluid (type should be mentioned in your owner’s manual).

Typical dealer fairy tale.  Did you happen to notice if his nose was growing while telling you this story?

By initial take off, I'm assuming you mean when you start the car in the morning and first take off, that your first few shifts feel delayed or rough?

Does the car feel like it wants to lurch forward with those first few shifts?

Because that's normal on your Honda. The owners manual says that it does this to help warm the engine up to normal operating temp faster.

I've owned 2 Accords and both of them do this, it's normal.
