Topic starter
I have a 2000 Toyota 4Runner, 3.4L V6 2WD with 302K miles. Automatic.
Took it to a shop to confirm, it is indeed blowing excessive smoke out the exhaust and burning oil. About a quart every 5 days. Other than the crazy amount of smoke, it runs fine.
- Does Bar’s Leak Oil Seal, or any of those “Stop Oil Leak” additives help?
- If so, which ones do you recommend?
I just want to temporarily lessen the smoke situation.
Thank you!

The products you mentioned stop leaks, not burning oil.

Chances are your oil control rings are worn out, or possibly your valve guides and valve stem seals. In the old days we used to run thicker oil or add a snake-oil product like STP to cut down on oil smoke but you can't do that with an engine that has variable valve timing.
