Hi Scotty, I have a 1998 BMW 528i standard transmission with 83,000 miles. I live in Maine and the temperatures in winter drops below freezing 6 months out of the year. My driver side door doesn’t latch close when below 0. What would you do.
When did you lubricate your latches last? I suspect the old dirty, greasy grease is thickening (hardening) bit too much as temperature drops. Try to clean each latch with WD-40 and re-lubricate with a new grease - white lithium grease!

Another vote for white lithium grease!
I used to live in the Midwest & Winter temps were BRTUAL! on cars. Alcohol in the door key lock (displaces & melts frozen water) & lithium in the latch.
Spray some lube in the latch mechanism
I live in cold climate too and had same problem. Lubrication as others have suggested can work wonders. It certainly has for me. Best of luck
Thx, I guess I’ll need to remove the door panel and do a thorough clean and grease. I’ll make sure to use a lithium grease. Thx everyone.
Huh? I don’t think you need to remove door panel! Just spray it liberally with WD-40, … couple of times, if need be. Try it how it woks, … and if it does work, lubricate with white lithium grease. It should work just fine, … unless you find a physical damage once the current gunk is washed off.
