Hi Scotty, i don't know if you know about french cars but I own a 2019 Peugeot 308 1.2l 3 cylinder car.

It is amazing on fuel yes and is all round a good car(so far)

It has an AISIN toyota transmission which is one of the reason of it it BUT it seems very jerky when i pull off from 0mph to speed (like a sort of learner driver using a clutch) peugeot guys told me it's not and the shifting can be quiet rough at times especially in sports mode. I just drive another automatic car and it is really smooth with zero vibration or hesitation. Could it be the transmission? When I last took it to them for service they said nothing is wrong. I'm a bit annoyed the car only has 5000 miles. What should I say for them to actually have a look at it. They always say they'd charge money if they find nothing but clearly there is something.

Thank you.

First let me state I have zero experience with this vehicle.  With that said, facts are a 3 cylinder is inherently a bad design due to balancing (it should have 2 balance shafts just to keep it from jumping out the hood).  2nd, clearly there is an issue and Peugeot and dealer won't acknowledge it.  To me that's enough to walk away... sorry not what you want to hear.  Find the forum for that car and you'll gain greater insight and should be able to find something that will improve it. Oh, sport mode in a 3 cylinder engine... purely marketing BS to make you feel good.

Just to add what @hillbilly recommended, if you can’t find what you’re looking for on the Peugeot forums, look for an independent mechanic in your area, who specialises in Peugeot vehicles and get him to thoroughly diagnose what’s going on. Aisin transmissions are pretty robust, so odds are it’s something with the ECU tuning of the sports mode. Either way, have it looked at by a specialist other than the dealer.

My neighbour has a 308 as his weekend toy. Guess what’s his daily driver? —> it’s a Honda!

Is your car still under warranty? Perhaps this is the reason dealer does not want to repair it. Do not give up!
