News this morning in the UK, charging point increases by 42% within 4 months, 18 pence per mile, (petrol is 19 pence) Evil

A link to a relevant article would be nice.

EV; the big LIE the eco-terrorist are trying to get everyone to buy into.

The only reason the EVs are cheaper per mile at all is due to confiscatory taxation of motor fuels in the UK. Wait until they start imposing similar taxes on electricity - and they will.

Nothing surprising for sure. None of those politicians care about the environment; they care about their pockets so they'll always find a way to charge people.

Here's the article; I looked it up last night after seeing this post.

Thanks.

You're welcome @itwt.

I think EV’s are amazing.

The only thing "amazing" about them is that anyone is drinking that kool-aid.

Hahahah. Soooooooooo many people!!!

No shortage - there's a sucker born every minute! Some people just need to learn the hard way.

Electric vehicles leave a huge ecological footprint. It's not about saving the environment, it is about controlling movement, having cars so computerized and connected to the internet that they could track you, inhibit your ability to travel distances, basically monitor your every move.

Again, this is not about saving the environment. Gasoline vehicles, for the conservative driver, have considerably more range than even the more expensive upgraded electric vehicles.

Your leaders were warned, all they did was laugh.

I think EV’s are amazing. I don’t own one, but in sheer performance numbers (acceleration, torque, horsepower per volume), they are king.

With that said, if someone is getting an EV for environmental reasons, it is dumb. Doing a full life cycle assessment on an EV vs ICE, suggests ICE is actually more environmentally friendly. EV environmental worshipers usually just stop counting at the tailpipe, but there is a long supply chain of environments degradation to build an EV.

That's not true. They are not king in hp per volume. EV's are not scalable.

I don’t mean per liter. I mean by the physical size of the engine. An EV cam crank more HP in a smaller engine/motor footprint than an ICE.

obviously electric engines aren't measured in litres. I'm talking about the battery bulk it requires. You will not see an EV semi truck.

If we are talking battery then I agree. If we are talking just the actual electric motor. I disagree.

The actual electric motors is what I mean by volume. So much hp and torque comes out a small electric motor. It takes an engine double or more to make the same hp and torque.

It's a moot point. EV's have batteries.

Imho, it is an important point. The drivetrain is usually considered separate from the fuel reservoir.

In an EV, the drivetrain is usually just a small electric motor. The fuel reservoir is the battery.

In an ICE, the drivetrain is usually the engine and a transmission (or transaxle). The fuel reservoir is the gas tank.

You're dancing around the limitation that today's electric vehicles need to carry around over 1000 pounds of batteries to be even marginally usable. Taken as a whole an EV needs to carry a whole lot more weight around for noticeably less convenience and longevity. Without the batteries the electric motor is just a lump of inanimate metal. So the argument about a "lightweight" EV powertrain doesn't hold up in the real world until perhaps such time as something like Mr. Fusion is invented.
