Hey scotty,
I'm working on my friends 2005 kia sportage 2.7L auto 4x4 with 90k miles.
Im trying to pass inspection but i can't seem to figure this out. I replaced both the purge and vent valve and the same code keep comming up. The snap on scanner says p0441 purge valve no flow.
Thats the only code that it has.
My friend told me when he fills it becomes a crank no start, so he never fills it up all the way and its fine.
I checked the FTP sensor on the scanner and its reading zero hg. Can it be a faulty FTP sensor or
clogged charcoal canister?
Thanks, Pablo
Ya you definitely have to have the evap system closed in order to smoke it for leaks. It sounds like that sensor is bad a lot of manufacturers use 0 or a negative number as a fail safe if the sensor is bad. Depending on where you live generally if you keep the car over 3/4 of a tank it won’t test the evap system and you won’t get the code and you should be able to pass emissions
It could be, have it smoke tested.
Could have have a vacuum leak in the engine.
Ok will do. Just did some more research on the system and apparently I got to close the vent valve while smoking. Going to have to borrow my friends scanner again to try this.
Ok smoke tested and no noticeable leaks. But I did get a schematic. So with the KOEO I have 4.3v at the power side wire and 12.5v on the pcm ground side. . Is that normal for a pcm switch ground?? HELP 😥
Also I pulled out the purge valve and jumped it directly to the battery and it clicks. Seems to be good..
