I know from watching Scotty's content the shortcomings of the Ecoboost engines. I'm curious to thoughts on the non-turbo V-6 Ford still does offer in the F-150. Any thoughts on this engine? Thanks
For 2021 Ford F-150, 3.3L DOHC normally aspirated V6 engine coupled with a 10-speed transmission. Comes standard with auto stop/start. It replaced the 3.5L V6 (non-turbo) in 2018 as the base F-150 engine.
It was an all-new design, not a reworking of one or more of the previous engine models.
The HP and Torque numbers (290 HP, 265 lb-ft torque) seem slightly lower than some of the competitors ratings, but not by much and more than adequate to provide good usability to the vehicle in most light-duty scenarios.
Since introduction in 2018, the engine has been used extensively in "fleet" use, such as construction, local and state government vehicles, and federal agency use.
In public use, and depending upon model selected, vehicles can be purchased powered by the 3.3L V6 and still see an impressive listing of available options.
I consider an F-150 with the 3.3L V6 engine to be a very viable full-sized pickup truck option with impressive capabilities for general use and towing, at purchase prices frequently much lower than smaller mid-sized pickups such as Tacoma, Colorado, and Ranger.
