This is not a question, it's more of a comment.
I have been watching your YouTube videos for the past two years. I have taken your advice on several items you recommended. Two of these recommendations have paid big in the last three weeks.
I own a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis I purchased use in 2020. In May 2023 it started developing a problem with the instrument cluster. At various times, while driving, the instrument cluster would stop working. I mean the entire instrument cluster would just die. No speedometer, no tachometer, no gas gauge, no instrument lights, nothing.
At the end of July 2023, the pump for the windshield washer went out. While installing the replacement pump, I took your advice and used jumper wires and a 10 ohm resistor to reset the on-board computer. I also removed the Fixd Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner dongle from the OBD port. Since that time I have had NO issues with the instrument cluster and the car runs/accelerates better than before. Thank you Scotty for your YouTube videos. My only problem is that about the time I learned you lived in Clarksville, TN, you had moved away.
The OB2 port is a diagnostic port and should only be used as such. Scotty has mentioned in several videos it's a bad idea to leave something plugged in permanently.
Scotty still lives in Clarksville, TN.
He vacations in Rhode Island a few months out of the year and takes appointments there.
