Howdy Scotty!

My name is Dean, I am 17, and having problems I can not solve within my scope of mechanics.

I have a 1995 4.9L F150 Manual 4x4. It is Obd 1 and I am not getting codes for the issue. Starting out I had trouble starting, and then eventually stalling on the road. Replaced the alternator and battery and the frequency of the stalling went down. I am still having issues sporadically stalling while idling or driving. I have replaced the ignition coil, spark plugs, cap & rotor, fuel pump, andy relays. The engine always conveniently stalled when the right tools are not present, or after leaving a mechanic shop. I also noticed that it seems to stall whenever it is wet weather, though it may be a coincidence. I have pulled the Ecm and it looked alright, though I'll need to replace it eventually. The radio had flickered on and off as well one time when I was having issues stalling while idling during a rain storm.

Just today, I went out to reinstall my Ecm and the battery was completely dead and barely cranked but no start.. I used my voltmeter and it registered .2 volts. I tried jump starting it and that did not work. The truck had sat for 2 days. I did notice that the radio/time was turned on even though the ignition switch is offI. Iam not sure that this parasitic is even the issue with stalling or just another cherry on the top of problems.

Any help is much appreciated, I have invested $800 already and am at the point where any part I purchase is pricy and I have to wisely budget

List replaced items:

Battery, alternator, ignition coil, spark plugs, cap & rotor, fuel pump, relays.

Suspect: pip sensor, distributor, Ecm, icm, radio, short in wire.

Thanks,

Dean

So many things can conk out a Ford but it's easy to start to go out that would be the number one culprit that I would test with my fancy equipment I would road test it and analyze the live and stored data

Pulled fuse 11 which turnedy radio off. Will test the other fuses for a short as well. I guess I'll have to rewire the radio and possibly replace it. Issue persists I'll then replace the ignition switch. Is it even possible for the radio circuit to cause the engine to stall? I will also be replacing the distributor and pip sensor for good measure. Will be driving brown to Conroe hopefully with no issues.  Will update.

Thanks,

Dean

So I went to replace the distributor and the timing is messed up. On tops dead center the distributor in about 180° off pointing at the wrong cylinder. Now the timing now messed up and causing engine knocking. What should I do for this?

best $20 you'll ever spend for your truck
