Are you aware the 2021 Ford F150 5 litre engines have a belt driven oil pump? Yup, belt driven. Do you have an opinion?
Just another reason not to buy one. There's a million of them at this point.
Yep, and its a wet belt. Part of that same new technology manufacturers are thinking about using to replace timing chains to. I know Scotty isn’t a fan, can’t remember what video it was though. I would wait and see how they last and hold up before I bought one.
I believe Ford has all but ruined the 5.0. Part of it being trying to keep up with EPA/Gov standards. Add to that Ford doesn’t believe in helping their customers anymore or standing by the products they make. It’s only going to be downhill for them.
And don’t get me started on the cylinder deactivation they also introduced in the 5.0. I guess they are really doubling down on planned obsolescence like most automakers!
It’s not just manufacturers, Lawmakers are pushing more and more laws to get older cars off the roads. In my state you used to be able to troll junkyards to find project cars. When I had my 78 trans am my buddy built his 72 firebird completely from Junkyard parts then eventually once he had it on the road started replacing parts here and there get it more roadworthy. But that was back in 94-95. Today in Virginia once a car reaches the back of a scrap yard it can never be retitled or registered. Only way to do a salvage or rebuilt title on anything is if you buy it from an insurance company before it gets scrapped. Classic cars are limited on mileage per year now to.
They are pushing to have better mpg regardless of the reliability consequences. I would not trust this design at all.
I think Ford's quality is going down in some years. I do hate cylinder deactivation and the new belt technology. I do have to say most of the time Ford is competing with Ram to see who has the most tech.
