Hi Scott and the gang. I thought I had this problem fixed but like a boomerang it keeps coming back. A quick recap, MY 2004 Ford Focus SE 2.3L started overheating after replacing the radiator. I've since changed the thermostat, cylinder head temp sensor, water pump and fan control module. That fan module is known to fail and the connector on mine was burned. The replacement kit comes with a new connector so that's not a concern. It's still overheats after a while! I've discovered the fans are not coming on unless the A/C is turned on. The heater blows hot so there's no blockage. What else could be the problem?
Make sure air is purged from the cooling system and test the temperature sensor that operates the fan. (It's not uncommon for new parts to be defective, especially aftermarket.)
I've tried the procedure to "burp" it several times, I'm honestly not sure if it's working. The suspected culprit is the radiator fan resistor, anyone know how to test it?
I was told that if you disconnect the cylinder heat temp sensor and turn KOEO then the fans should come on at high speed. I tried it and they did not come on at all. Any idea's on where to look next? 🙁
