Front of car vibrating between 1,400-1,600 RPM

Hey Scotty,

I have a 2013 Honda Accord EX-L V6 Automatic with 62,000 miles on it. When I'm maintaining speed on the road between 1,400 and 1,600 RPMs, I feel and hear a vibration coming from under the hood of the car. It sounds like a low pitched humming noise that I can feel in the steering wheel, gas pedal, and floorboard of the car. When I accelerate however, the noise and feeling goes away, although, I've also recently been feeling a roughness of the same issue when accelerating from a stop in first and second gear. The car has been in two "minor" cosmetic accidents, according to the Carfax report, but they happened with the previous owner of the car, and I have no records of how bad the accidents actually were or the repairs that were done to "fix" it. When I bought the car, it did not have any of these issues until the morning after, where the engine was making this incredibly terrible vibrating noise at idle that was 100 times worse than it is now (keep in mind that it wasn't doing any of this when I test drove it the day before). I had to have the front and back engine mounts replaced and so far, it hasn't done it since, but the current issue with the car is still occurring. I've had the oil and filter changed recently, along with the transmission fluid changed and the rotors changed. Also, when coming to a stop, the car jolts when downshifting. It feels like the car almost gets stuck, then it downshifts and let's loose. I got the car when it had 51,200 miles on it.

I've done some research and the most likely cause of the current vibrating issue is Honda's VCM feature with their engines to help save fuel, but I personally feel like it shouldn't be this bad.

Any ideas on any solution(s) to these issues?

Thanks so much!

Take it to an alignment specialty shop for proper diagnosis to find out what real problems you have on your hands.  Never trust a Carfax report.  They lie.  Did you have the car inspected before you bought it?

@Doc | no I didn’t, at the time I really knew nothing ab the process of buying a car as I was a first time buyer and didn’t do my research before purchasing, now I’m an absolute fanatic and I’ll definitely be triple checking for any issues before I buy next time.

This sounds like something serious is damaged in the transmission. I doubt if that’s the VCM.

Have it looked at by a honest mechanic and decide your next course of action based on what the inspection reveals.

Who knows what all got damaged in reality.
