hello everyone, I need some tips an tricks on how to remove a stuck fuel filter on a 2011 crown Victoria, I’ve tried those little fuel line disconnecting tools they don’t do anything I’ve also tried using some pb blaster to help lubricate the filter and line in hopes of it slipping right off but no luck, to give you more information it’s the plastic line that the filter is stuck on it slides right off on the metal line on the opposite side, any suggestions would be helpful i just don’t want to go to the mechanics again they said they would have to drop the fuel tank for some reason and charge me 950$

well they're talking about replacing the lines that's why they have to drop the tank if it's really bad you might have to replace the lines and of course you can't heat it up with a torch to try to get it off cuz it's gasoline and it would start on fire. For my experience you have to use the metal tools that take the connectors off if you have the cheap plastic tools they're useless you need metal ones so if you don't have metal one start there but realize sometimes those cheap connectors are such crap you have to end up cutting the lines off and splicing new lines in good luck

Roger that Scotty I appreciate the information I just don’t understand why taking the whole tank off the line is a plastic quick disconnect line attached to a metal line from what I found just tracing the line so I guess the real question is why can’t I just remove the plastic line from the metal line somehow? I’m asking a lot of questions lately cause I’m getting ready to drive from ft bragg to Florida in 10 days and trying to get my car up to code.

That's weird. The front side with the metal connection requires the disconnect tool to release it and that's the side that usually gets stuck. You seem to have gotten that side off without a problem.

The back side just has that plastic clip that you pry out and then the filter should slide right off.

Are you certain when you pried the white clip out that half of it didn't break off and is still stuck in there?

Yes that’s the little thing I’m talking about, so yes I made sure it’s clear of the little retaining clip but it’s completely seized on there I know it’s a old filter probably never been changed with over 171k miles to it so it’s been sulking there since whenever it was or was not changed, I don’t know what to do an I feel that’s what’s giving my car horrible fuel economy it should be a easy fix but it’s not... I soaked it in pb blaster and it won’t budge, do you have any idea what I could try?

with that clip removed the only thing holding it on is crud. Try pouring some very hot water on that plastic connection to try to get it to expand a little while twisting and pulling the filter while holding the line (wear gloves)

Thank you I’ll give that a try this thing was worse than changing my freaking intake manifold only because I keep coming back to the dang filter and not getting anywhere, just frustrating.
