[Solved] Fuel Induction Service

Topic starter

I have a 2010 Toyota Tundra v8 with 134,000 miles on it. I took it in for service at my local Toyota dealership. They recommended that they perform the Fuel Induction service which supposedly cleans out the carbon build up. They charge 115 for this service. Is that service really necessary or more of a way to make money?

If your car is running perfectly fine and idling great, then you don't need it. They always "recommend" things you necessarily don't need. They don't actually know if you have serious carbon build-up, they assume it based on the mileage. Plus, the injectors are not inside the combustion chamber for serious carbon build-up to occur on them like a typical GDI would. Gasoline is a great solvent and will clean most of the carbon off naturally. If you really want to do something about cleaning the injectors, you can just put in a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner into your tank for like $8 and it will do a pretty good job of cleaning your fuel system. I've used it before and it works pretty well.

Thanks! That was very helpful information

Yes it's a service that they just sell if your car runs perfectly fine gasoline is a great solvent now that's a normal engine if it was a Volkswagen GTI yeah they need a deduction cleaning all the time but not that Toyota V8 engine
