I have a 95 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 with 345,000 miles, that would not start when parked at home. I had filled the gas tank prior to going home. Still sparking at plugs but had no gas at injectors, possible fuel pump problem? I drained the gas tank (20 gallon tank of 15 gallons of gas) with a copper tipped siphon hose. Had a hard time getting siphon to bottom of tank, had to peck past something, maybe the pump? So I get in to check the gas gage and it started! Do you think I still need to replace the fuel pump in the gas tank? Or do you think it is something else going on.
Love your channel, Gary
I would say at that age and mileage you could well be having a fuel pump problem. If you hit the pump with your copper-tipped hose that might have temporarily jarred it back into action. A pump from the OEM manufacturer is the preferred replacement. On the later Cherokees that's Bosch, not sure on a '95. (Though it's hard to go wrong with a Bosch pump. Stay away from junk like Airtex.)
