Fuel pump or fuel sending unit

I have a 2009 hyunda santa fe, 2.7, automatic, 96000 miles. I have an error code for a fuel sending unit intermittent connection. Should I just replace the sending unit or go ahead and replace the fuel pump while I'm there given the age of the car.

It has 2 sending units. One on the pump and the other on the opposite side.

It takes a lot of work to get to those. Removing interior trim, pulling out seats.

If you plan on keeping it, I'd replace the pump (it will come with its sending unit already on it) and replace the other sender while you have the seats out.

You don't have to by the Hyundai OEM pump. Just don't buy a $99 aftermarket one. A decent one will cost around $200 (which is 1/2 the price of the OEM).

It depends on the price difference. How much is each (including labor)?

Replace both, the fuel pump failure is probably not too far behind.

You’re just about at the mileage where Hyundai/Kia products start to fall apart & start turning into endless money pits..

It’s your call if you want to go down that path, but don’t start throwing more money at the vehicle than what’s required to keep it running.
