Hey guys, sorry but this is gonna be a long thread here but really need help.
On my 1997 Nissan Pathfinder with 180,000 miles, Ive been having an ongoing issue thats hard to trace. Basically, when the vehicle is restarted warm, like after sitting for 30 minutes or an hour or even sometimes after 3 hours it would hesitate and bog down for a few seconds then level off. It would not start smooth and get the fast idle for the few seconds like when an engine normally starts. Cold starts are perfectly fine.
Ive tried the CRC intake cleaner that scotty had in one of his videos and the issue seemed to have disappeared for a week. It was also chilly for the past week so dont also know if its temp related as today got up to 75 when it showed back up. And what's weird is that about 15 minutes after that happened heavy gasoline vapors were coming out of the canister vent tube. I thought I had solved the vapor problem a month ago when I changed the vacuum cut valve solenoid and the bypass valve that connects to it, but I guess not. Are these two issues related?
In the past two years I have replaced the tps sensor, spark plugs, leads, distributor, ECT sensor, Air temp sensor, cleaned the throttle body and new gasket, new fuel filter, exhaust system replaced, new battery. Ran a can of bg44k through tank
Some of these parts were changed due to age and failure others were for this problem. All parts genuine nissan or Hitachi.
I also performed and fuel pressure check to see for injectors bleed down and it there was no drastic drop in pressure after the engine was turned off. It drops every so slowly after a while. Maybe dropped 10 psi after 40 minutes.
So is the gas vapor leak and hot restart stumble and hesitation related? If not what could be the cause of either? Could it be the canister and canister vent valve that sits on it?
First you have to figure out why it does not restart hot it beginning too much real or it could be getting no fuel at all if it is getting too much fuel then it will smoke black when you finally get it started it will not smoke if it is not getting any fuel. Start with that analysis I've seen leaking fuel injectors when you shut it off drip fuel in the engine bad fuel pressure regulators drip fuel in the engine but I've also seen ignition systems that don't work and fuel pumps that will not pump fuel in which case you won't get any fuel and it's not flooding out it's the exact opposite good luck
