Hi Scotty, I recently purchased a new 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 6.2L DFI engine in it, barely has 2000 miles on it now. I know DFI engines normally don’t clean oil and carbon deposits off of the top of the intake valves and I’d like to keep deposits from forming and was thinking about using Seafoam in the throttle body. Do you have any other recommendations to prevent or remove those buildups, and/or how often should I probably do it? Thanks!
Well those engines have in particularly had problems but there's all kinds of cleaner you can buy. Go to auto parts store. You'll see they have many different kinds of spray cleaners that you spray in the throttle
Don't use Seafoam. That stuff is made for old outboard boat motors, not modern DFI engines. Personally, I wouldn't use it even in my '79 Pontiac's carbureted V8. There are more specialized additives and cleaners these days. Find a quality valve decarbonizing spray you can spray in the throttle body and follow the directions to help keep carbon build-up to a minimum.
