Scotty, Love your videos. Is a 2021 Genesis G70 as reliable as a 2021 IS 300?

The Genesis is not even in the same boat;  the Lexus is definitely your better bet.   If planning to keep for a long time and put lots of mileage on the vehicle (well past 100/150/200,000 miles), I would go with the Lexus.  Now for longevity, I personally would never buy a turbocharged engine (IS300) since it won’t last as long as the naturally aspirated engine (which the IS350 has).

See below why you should avoid Hyundai Motor Group products:

GENESIS ARE NIGHTMARES.

Although they're marketed as reliable, those are lies and they're actually absolute utter nightmares.

Even consumer reports acknowledges this when the ranked the worst brands as: Lincoln, Tesla, Jeep, Genesis, VW, Mercedes, (...)

Am saying this as a person who likes Korean cars and was considering a G70 Shooting Brake 2.2L Diesel.

In comparison, Lexus is still one of the best built cars in the world.

(EDIT: spelling)

Dan, you mean Consumer Reports.

Magic 8-ball says, “Signs point to no”

Welcome to the forum!  Consensus here, starting with Scotty himself, is that long term reliability of Toyota/Lexus is pretty much the gold standard, whereas the Hyundai/Kia twins (of which Genesis is a product) tend to age poorly. You’ll probably get 3 or 4 more people commenting, and they’ll probably say the same thing. Genesis gives you good bang for the buck in the luxury market, but they haven’t yet earned a reputation for reliability.
