Good morning Scotty; I have a 2008 Chevy Malibu LTZ with the 3.6L VVT V6 power plant... right now its using a little oil (more consumption in the winter)! It uses more antifreeze than anything. I know the 3.6 is plagued from the start! I have not checked it for cracked heads. The transmission was replaced at 152,000. So I was wonder what other signs do I need to be looking for? My wife also as a 2009 Chevy Traverse LT, it too has the 3.6. I checked the oil last night, the car was at operating temp... but the oil was low about quart and a half. We also had the oil changed in it about 1500 miles ago. My question with the Traverse is when the average time do you see catastrophic engine failure. It has over 200,000 miles on the odometer?!? One more thing, it also has a vibration at 1100 rpms as well. Both vehicles have no engine misfire, but they both have the check engine light on. Any input would be great, thank you very much in advance!
hold your horses. One question per topic post please.

RIP head gasket / engine head - time to do a head gasket test to confirm if that's an engine or a cooling system issue.

That's enough to a sign to sell the car.

150k miles is the expected lifetime of such a vehicle, according to GME (General Motors Europe, aka Opel) information.
So 100k miles in city driving, or 200k at best if used on highway.
Thank you for the response, I know I'm just preventing the inevitable, but I didn't know how big my window was!
I had the '08 Malibu scanned back in February of this year and the 2 codes that displayed at that time were P0O14 and P0O32?!?
Timing and electronics codes, not good at all.
P0014 : Camshaft B Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance
P0032: O2 Sensor Heater Circuit High (on bank 1)
