GM vs Ford

Hey Scotty!  I live in Canada. Quick question about a new pickup truck.  Ford Ranger vs Chevy Colorado - GMC Canyon?  The Ranger is equipped with a turbocharged 4 cylinder engine whereas the GM trucks are equipped with a Naturally Aspirated V6.  I heard those ford Ecoboost engines have problems as they age.  I know a Tacoma would outlast both of those but between Ford and GM which one would you take? Thanks!

4 cylinder turbo seems foolish in a truck the V8 engines are the best but the Ranger does not have it so only between those two I would go GM but quality is still very low you would be better off with a used Tacoma.

Neither, they're wannabe trucks. Go full size either brand, non turbo, non diesel...but buy all the bumper-to-bumper warranty possible and have a second vehicle while they are at the dealership.

Bonus points for not asking about FIAT Dodges, Rams, whatever their marketing name is today. 😎

I had a friend with a 2017 Chevy Colorado with that NA V6 (also called the High Feature Engine) and it blew on him just outside the power train warranty period.  The Ranger - jury is still out on long term reliability but it has the FI GDI engine and if you get the 10-speed Auto there could be issues.  Both company’s reliability (esp. long term) is questionable at best.

If I were you, I’d do everything possible to get into a Tacoma!

I would rather have a V6 than turbo 4cyl

"between Ford and GM which one would you take?" ...... Take the Tacoma!!

Ford seems to have design problems that they ignore fixing.  GM quality seems a little better.  Personally I think no vehicle is any better than the dealership that sells it.  They all must be repaired eventually.
