No signs of rust at all on last 3 years of MOT certificates very odd!

He said maybe they turned a blind eye before but he obviously wasn't.

He recommended I take car to a place and do a sand off and a Wax covering.

not sure if this Volkswagen had undersell paint protection from new can anyone shed any light 🙏

Thanks ❤️

I don't know how inspections work where you are but in those states here that do safety inspection (not all do) they would not fail you for surface rust, but would if there is perforation that affects the vehicle structure.

It sounds like good advice to use a rust-preventative coating to slow down the corrosion.

Cars kick up all kinds of debris covering paved roads, like alone any time you've driven on gravel. If it's routinely humid where you live (water vapor attacks steel more readily than liquid water), that could very well be part of it. A nick in the undercarriage paint happened to go all the way through to metal. It's not uncommon at all.
