Hey Scotty!
Your videos are great! Thank you for creating some genuine and helpful content in a world full of fluff.
I am thinking about buying a used 2017 Ford Fusion Sport with the 2.7L V6 with only 22,000kms from a dealer. They are asking $24,498CN$. Is this a good car or am I asking for trouble?
Get a Toyota or Honda instead, that is much better. Even though if you get a killer deal on the fusion, it won’t beat the reliability in the long run of a Japanese car.
I would say it depends on how long you plan to keep it and how hard you drive it. It is a small turbocharged engine and it will wear faster than a larger NA engine. Also if you plan to fix it yourself and you rely on the dealer/shops.
They are not bad cars, the fiesta and focus are the ones ford cut corners on.
I agree with the above comments, I think it may be best to go with a more trustworthy and reliable brand.
I think that's maybe a little over priced for what you're getting. For the same money, you could buy a nearly new Camry that will probably last you longer and give you less problems. Or better yet (if it works for you) for that same $25k, you could buy a new loaded Corolla.
Obviously 22k in about 4 years isn't that much driving and I'm going to guess it was driven perhaps by an older person who didn't drive that much. However, if you want something you can keep for a long time (and Scotty says this from time to time) don't get a car with a turbo. They will go out, and they are expensive to repair/replace. The Camry with either the V6 or 4-cylinder 2.5L will probably give you a similar experience but I would say the Camry would be more reliable in the long term.
Ford has limited production to the mustang in the last year. (Fusion is in last year of production)
Would check out Honda Toyota or the Lexus is 350 if you are looking for speed.
Overall you will be much happier.
