A year ago I purchased a used 2012 Nissan Maxima SV from CarMax for (roughly) 12,000$ with 95,000(ish) miles on it. Since then, it has ran smoothly and has only needed new brake pads installed. Was I ripped off for that price? Is there anything that I should keep an eye out for specifically?
The other car I was looking at, when I purchased the Nissan, was a 2010 Subaru Outback with 60,000(ish) miles for the same price.
I decided to go with the Nissan for better performance (speed) and have not been disappointed in that regard, though I fear it may start breaking given what Scotty has said about Nissans.
2012 Maxima is a surprisingly decent car. Scotty did mention in one of his videos that they are not bad cars. It may have a CVT, but the strange thing is that the V6 CVT combo is way more reliable than the 4 cylinder CVT combos which fall apart. As long as you change the fluids and keep up the maintenance it can last quite some time, however, $12 grand is a little bit too much if you ask me. Subaru Outback is decent with the flat 4 but transmission issues can pop on those cars if not well taken care of and the 6 cylinder Subarus are piles of junk and they fall apart.
